Bateman’s Bay man jailed over abalone haul
A Bateman's Bay man caught with more than 200 times the legal limit of abalone, has been sentenced to two months jail.
The 33 year old was stopped by police in Narooma with 396 shucked abalone and diving gear hidden in his truck.
Last week an Albion Park Rail man was fined 13 thousand dollars after he was busted with more than the permitted amount.
The tough laws exists to ensure abalone stocks remain plentiful for everyone. Primary Industries Minister Steve Whan says the man's sentence shows the courts are serious about fisheries crime.
