Nelson Mandela dies at 95
The world is mourning the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela who has died this morning after losing a long battle with illness.
Mandela was surrounded by his family at his Johannesburg home when he passed away - he'd been gravely ill for some time.
The 95-year-old icon served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, becoming the first black South African to hold the office.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner served 27 years in prison before being released in 1990.
Tributes are pouring in from around the world today including from Prime Minister Tony Abbott, former Prime Minister Malcom Fraser, US President Barack Obama and Prince William.
South Africa's President Jacob Zuma has announced Mandella will be given a State Funeral.
